Doherty Files School Funding Plan & Constitutional Amendment in Response to Supreme Court Decision
Senator Michael Doherty, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, filed a school funding proposal and a constitutional amendment to remove the Court from decisions on how we fund our schools.
“Because the Court has overstepped its clearly defined constitutional authority and assumed the duties of the Legislature and the Executive Branch, I have no choice but to make an effort to amend the constitution to remove the Court from school funding decisions.

Christie Ends New Jersey’s Participation in RGGI
Senator Michael Doherty, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement in support of Governor Christie ending New Jersey’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. (RGGI)
“Governor Christie moved decisively today to end New Jersey participation in a scheme that penalized the state’s taxpayers for pollution that originates in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Two states that do not participate in the RGGI. This proposal never made any sense for the environment or the people of the state.
Doherty Proposes Constitutional Amendment in Response to Court Decision on School Funding
